Ruling on saying ‘Radiallahu anha’ while mentioning the name of mother of the Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam)

Question 438:

What is the ruling on saying ‘Radiallahu anha’ while mentioning the name of mother of the Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) ?

Answer :

It is not permitted. The companions did not used to say ‘Radiallahu anhaa’ when the mother of the Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) is mentioned. Because the Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) have asked his Lord for permission for seeking forgiveness for his mother and He didn’t give permission and He gave permission to visit her grave [Muslim, 2303]. So Allah has not given permission to seek forgiveness for her, so it is not correct to say ‘Radiallahu anha’ (it means May Allah be pleased with her).

This is the ruling from Allah. And also the same while name of his father is mentioned. The Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) has said (when a companion have asked him where is my father ?), ‘My father and your father are in fire’ [Abu Dawud, 4718, Shaykh Al Albani graded it as Sahih].

This practice is not there among the salaf, but the Soofiyyah and the people who show emotional feelings they go against the proofs and the texts. It is not correct.

And it is not permitted to talk about mother of the Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) more than this, because this annoys the Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam). And the same is with his father. Mention what we were informed by the Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) and leave it there without any additional talk.
