▪️Ruling on pellet guns▪️
Our Shaykh, Muhammad ibn Hizaam -may Allaah preserve him- was asked the following question:
The questioner says: Do toy pellet guns fall under the prohibition of Al-Khadhf (throwing small pebbles at people/animals) because it’s similar to Al-Khadhf?
Yes, you are right, it does resemble Al-Khadhf. The Prophet ﷺ forbade Al-Khadhf, and said:
((إِنَّهَا لَا تَصِيدُ صَيْدًا، وَلَا تَنْكَأُ عَدُوًّا، وَلَكِنَّهَا تَكْسِرُ اَلسِّنَّ، وَتَفْقَأُ اَلْعَيْنَ))
“It does not kill the prey, nor does it defeat the enemy, but it may break a tooth or gouge out an eye.” [Reported by Bukhaari & Muslim from the hadeeth of Abdullaah ibn Mughaffal -may Allaah be pleased with him-]
Therefore, these toys fall under the prohibition and are forbidden, and how many people have been injured through them!!
Abu Ishaq Muhammad Ibn Ahmad Ba-‘Alawi
