Answered by our Shaykh, the ‘Allaamah, the Sincere Advisor, Abu ‘Abdirrahman Yahya bin ‘Ali Al-Hajoori – may Allaah preserve him – on the 13th rajab 1431
Question:
What do you say about the one who says: “I’m upon the Salafiyyah of fulaan and fulaan”?
And is it true that every scholar has a salafiyyah?
Answer:
The methodology of Salafiyyah is one, which is the religion of the lord of the a’lameen:
وَمَنْ يُشَاقِقِ الرَّسُولَ مِنْ بَعْدِ مَا تَبَيَّنَ لَهُ الْهُدَىٰ وَيَتَّبِعْ غَيْرَ سَبِيلِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ نُوَلِّهِ مَا تَوَلَّىٰ وَنُصْلِهِ جَهَنَّمَ ۖ وَسَاءَتْ مَصِيرًا
[Surat An-Nisa’ 115]
And whoever contradicts and opposes the Messenger (Muhammad ﷺ) after the right path has been shown clearly to him, and follows other than the believers’ way. We shall keep him in the path he has chosen, and burn him in Hell – what an evil destination.
إِنَّ هَٰذِهِ أُمَّتُكُمْ أُمَّةً وَاحِدَةً وَأَنَا رَبُّكُمْ فَاعْبُدُونِ
[Surat Al-Anbiya’ 92]
Truly! This, your Ummah [Sharia or religion (Islamic Monotheism)] is one religion, and I am your Lord, therefore worship Me (Alone).
وَاعْتَصِمُوا بِحَبْلِ اللَّهِ جَمِيعًا وَلَا تَفَرَّقُوا…
[Surat Aal-E-Imran 103]
Hold fast, all of you together, to the Rope of Allah (i.e. this Quran), and be not divided among yourselves..
And how many other evidences (in regards to this affair)
The Salafiyaah is one: the book of Allah and the sunnah of the prophet upon the understanding of the salaf.
As for Salafiyaah of fulaan and saying “I’m upon the Salafiyaah of fulaan”
All of this division is wrong, this expression is an attempt of trying to escape from the reality, this is the affair of someone who wants to escape from the truth and follow permits.
