Answered by our Shaykh, the ‘Allaamah, the Sincere Adviser, Abu ‘Abdirrahman Yahya bin ‘Ali Al-Hajoori – may Allaah preserve him –

Question:

Is the one who shaves his beard a faasiq and what is the intent of fusooq?

Answer:

Yes, the one who shaves his beard is a faasiq due to this action of his, and fisq is disobedience, Allaah ﷻ says about shaytaan:

“فَفَسَقَ عَنْ أَمْرِ رَبِّهِ”
“…he disobeyed the Command of his Lord.” [Al-Kahf:50]

Meaning : he rebelled/disobeyed. And the one who shaves his beard is a sinner, because the Prophet ﷺ ordered with leaving it to grow and this one shaved it, so he disobeyed that which he ﷺ ordered with.

So he is disobedient to Allaah ﷻ, and upon him is to repent from this action, it is upon him to leave his beard in compliance to the order of the Prophet ﷺ the one who does not speak out of his own desires, Allaah ﷻ says:

“إِنْ هُوَ إِلَّا وَحْيٌ يُوحَى”
“It is only an Inspiration that is inspired.” [An-Najm:4]

And the Prophet ﷺ ordered with leaving the beard to grow in numerous authentic Ahaadeeth.
