By our Shaykh, the ‘Allaamah, the Trustworthy Adviser, Abu ‘Abdirrahman Yahya bin ‘Ali Al-Hajoori – may Allaah preserve him –
A man approaching his wife while she is menstruating is a major sin from the major sins, because he is going into impurity due to the statement of the Prophet ﷺ ‘and they are not being punished for something major’ (the hadith of the two who were being punished in their graves for tale telling and not saving oneself from being soiled by urine) , then he said, ‘Yes’…. till the end of the hadith. And the point of benefit is (his statement)’Yes’, that it is a major sin. And menstruation is impure so he is falling into a major sin.
