By our Shaykh, the ‘Allaamah, the Trustworthy Adviser, Abu ‘Abdirrahman Yahya bin ‘Ali Al-Hajoori – may Allaah preserve him –
The hadith that have come concerning that have been deemed hassan by some of them like Shaykh Albani may Allaah have mercy on him, and the correct opinion is that it is mawqoof (statement of Sahaabi) Abi Saeed Al-Khudri may Allaah be pleased with him and in this chapter is that which is lesser or like it which does not make it reach the level of being established, so it is not authentic that the Prophet ﷺ said it, with the affair being as such, if a person is able to come across it while reading then this affair is good, as for if you are specifying reading it every Friday continuously, then what is better is that one does not do that upon continuity but instead sometimes and perhaps you come across it during your revision or reading, as for specifying it upon continuity then do not do that due to the hadith not being established (from the Prophet ﷺ), and in it (Surah Al-Kahf) is great virtue, it and the rest of the Quran.
