◾Hijaamah – Sunnah days?◾
Our Shaykh, Muhammad ibn Hizaam – may Allaah preserve him – was asked the following question:
On what days is it recommended to have Hijaamah (cupping) done?
There is no authentic Hadith to specify particular days, and the narrations mentioned in this regard, such as Wednesdays, or on certain dates of the month, such as 17th, 18th, etc, are all weak and inauthentic.
Therefore, advice should be sought from the experts and medical professionals as to when it’s most preferable to do so, taking into consideration of whether the weather conditions will have any effect on the body, and whether it’s better to do so after eating and drinking, or having it done on an empty stomach, etc.
This is something to put forward to the medical experts, as the answer may differ from person to person depending on their conditions.
The patient who suffers from seizures has an appropriate time suitable for him, and one who doesn’t suffer from that may have another preferable time. Similarly, the one who has back issues has a preferred time to suit him, and the one who has headaches or migraines an appropriate time suited to him. All of this requires expert medical advice.
