Our Shaykh Abu Bilaal Al-Hadhramy- may Allah preserve him- was asked the following question on 9th Sha’ban 1441 (2nd April 2020):
The Questioner says:
Is the ghusl of jum’ah obligatory upon whoever is going to pray dhur in his home?
Answer:
[“غُسْلُ يَوْمِ الْجُمُعَةِ وَاجِبٌ عَلَى كُلِّ مُحْتَلِمٍ”]
The ghusl of Jum’ah is obligatory upon every mature (muslim) [1]
Regardless of whether he goes to the jum’ah prayer or not; although there is a greater onus on the one that will attend the jum’ah prayer to perform ghusl.
