▪️Are there any remnants of the Prophet ﷺ still in existence today?▪️
Our Shaykh, Muhammad ibn Hizaam -may Allaah preserve him- was asked the following question:
Are there any remnants of the Prophet ﷺ present in our times, like his clothes, slippers, hair, etc?
There are no remnants of the Prophet ﷺ which remain in existence today, and whoever claims otherwise is simply a liar.
Over the years, with the passage of time, the remnants have all disappeared.
So don’t be fooled when someone comes to you with slippers or strands of hair claiming they belong to Allah’s Messenger ﷺ and asking you how much you’re willing to pay for them.
They mentioned -during the Abbasid era or shortly after- someone entered upon some princes carrying slippers which they sought to sell to the Caliph; he claimed they belonged to the Prophet ﷺ. (Surprisingly,) the Caliph bought them and payed him a lot of money. Afterwards, they asked the Caliph why he was so naive in believing him, to which the Caliph responded: “I know full well that he’s a liar, but I wanted to preserve my dignity, lest he spreads rumours about me refusing to purchase the slippers of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ”.
