Completing the sunnah prayer at the hearing of the iqāmah

Question:

Whoever prayed the four sunnah of Dhuhr which are before with one tashahhud, then the iqāmah was pronounced while he is in the third rak’ah?

Answer:

He completes and does the bare minimum, if the iqāmah is pronounced and he completes while doing the bare minimum then joined them, his Salah is correct.

But verily if the Salah is established and he starts a new Salah from where the imam has entered into Salah along with those being led and he is in another Salah, this is prohibited;

(إذا أقيمت الصلاة فلا صلاة إلا المكتوبة)

“If the salāh is established then there is no salāh except the obligatory.”

I.e do not begin a new Salah, as for if a small portion remains of the tashahhud or some rak’at, he completes them quickly without discrepancies, then there is no problem with that;

(ولا تبطلوا أعمالكم)

“And render not your deeds in vain.” [Muhammad, 33]

That he completes and gains the good in it and joins the congregation while they are straightening the rows and the likes of that is better for him than breaking and entering with them, and if he broke and joined them in salāh it is said that he has missed out on completing his salāh and he is need of reperforming the two rak’ah of Dhuhr after that as the Prophet ﷺ did when guest came to him and he became busy so he prayed it after Asr, in this situation it was not counted.
