Combining different Remembrances of Allah in Rukoo

Question:

The Questioner says: ‘What is the ruling of combining a number of the remembrances of Allah reported from the Prophet ﷺ during rukoo and is it from the Sunnah to combine them all?’

Answer:

It is OK to combine some of them as there is evidently nothing (legislated) that prohibits this.

(So mentioning)

“سُبُّوحٌ قُدُّوسٌ، رَبُّ الْمَلَائِكَةِ وَالرُّوحِ ”

[ Soboohon qodooson rab almalaaiki warooh ]

Perfect, Blessed, Lord of Angels and the Spirit

[ Narrated by A’isha in Muslim: Hadith Number 486 ]

And

“سُبْحَانَ رَبِّيَ الْعَظِيم”

[ Sobhaana rabe yal’atheem ]

How Perfect is my Lord, the Supreme and Praised be He

ِ[ Narrated by Hudayfa in Muslim: Hadith Number 772 ]

(You can also say) in sujood:

“سُبُّوحٌ قُدُّوسٌ، رَبُّ الْمَلَائِكَةِ وَالرُّوحِ “

[ Soboohon qodooson rab almalaaiki warooh ]

Perfect, Blessed, Lord of Angels and the Spirit

[ Sobhaana rabe yal’alaa ]

How Perfect is my Lord, the Most High

ِ[ Narrated by Hudayfa in Muslim. Hadith Number 772 ]

Combining these remembrances is OK as there is evidently nothing (legislated) to prohibit it. That which is prohibited is a fabrication. It is prohibited to fabricate a remembrance from the different remembrances of the Prophet ﷺ.

As for mentioning some of the rememberances with each one mentioned individually; there is evidently nothing (legislated) that prohibits this; especially if the sujood or rukoo are prolonged.

Having said that, it is better for the person to mention one rememberance in sujood and exert himself in duaa due to the increased likelihood of its acceptance [1]

It is therefore better for him to exert himself in dua rather than exerting himself in combining the rememberances reported from the Prophet ﷺ whilst in sujood.

This is better and closer to perfection.

As for the rukoo; then glorify the Supremity of your Lord therein, Mighty and Sublime. As for the sujood; exert yourself in supplication for it is most likely that you will be answered
