The stages of Al-Yaqīn – Tafsīr Ibn Kathīr

Benefit:

Concerning His statement;

“And (remember) when Ibrāhim (Abraham) said, “My Lord! Show me how You give life to the dead.” He (Allah) said: “Do you not believe?” He [Ibrāhīm (Abraham)] said: “Yes (I believe), but to be stronger in Faith.” He said: “Take four birds, then cause them to incline towards you (then slaughter them, cut them into pieces), and then put a portion of them on every hill, and call them, they will come to you in haste. And know that Allah is All-Mighty, All-Wise.” [Al-Baqarah, 260]

So the Prophet of Allāh Ibrāhīm ﷺ wanted to have contentment with transitioning from Ilm ul-Yaqīn to Aīn ul-Yaqīn.

The stages of Al-Yaqīn:

1 – Ilm ul-Yaqīn (Certainty of knowledge)
2 – Aīn ul-Yaqīn (Certainty of sight)
3 – Haqq ul-Yaqīn (Absolute truth with certainty)

Ilm ul-Yaqīn, and Aīn ul-Yaqīn, in Suratu-Takāthur;

Allāh said:

“Nay! If you knew with a sure knowledge (the end result of piling up, you would not have occupied yourselves in worldly things)And again, you shall see it with certainty of sight!Verily, You shall see the blazing Fire (Hell)!”
[At-Takathur, 5-7]

Verily, this! This is an absolute Truth with certainty. [Al-Wāqi’ah, 95]

▪️ The highest is Haqq ul-Yaqīn, then Aīn ul-Yaqīn, then Ilm ul-Yaqīn.

▪️ And he struck a parable for clarification (as is said with examples the statement is clarified):

Our Shaykh may Allāh preserve him and take care of him said: “For example you informed one of them that you have a pen, this is Ilm ul-Yaqīn so if you show him the pen then this is Aīn ul-Yaqīn so if he takes it and writes with it, then this is Haqq ul-Yaqīn

And Allāh is the granter of success.
