Bid’ah Hasanah – Good Innovation in Islam?

Benefit:

Commentary on Kitāb Us-Sunnah by Harb Al-Karmānī

Hishām bin Ammār narrated to us, he said Abū Saīd Al-Ansārī narrated to us, on the authority of his father, on the authority of Khālid bin Mi’dān, on the authority of Abdir-Rahmān bin Amr As-Sulamī, on the authority of ‘Irbādh bin Sāriyah, he said: “I heard the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ saying:

أوصيكم بتقوى الله والسمع والطاعة، وإن عبد حبشيًا، فإنه من يبق بعدي فسيرى اختلافًا كثيرًا، فعليكم بسنتي وسنّة الخلفاء الراشدين المهديين، وعضوا عليها بالنواجذ، وإياكم ومحدثات الأمور فإن كل بدعة ضلالة

“I advise you all with the fear of Allāh and with hearing and obeying, even if it be a abyssinian slave, for verily whoever remains after me will see many differences, so upon you is my Sunnah and the Sunnah of the Rightly Guided Caliphs, bite onto it with your molar teeth, and beware of newly invented matters, for verily every innovation is misguidance.”

His statement:

“Every innovation is misguidance.”

And these generalisations benefit it and we all benefit that;

“Every innovation is misguidance.”

Whether it be a small innovation or big in their sight, and whether it be plenty or few, for it’s perpetrator fell into misguidance,

“Every innovation”

كل

Every (كل) is from the wordings of generality.

And we benefit another benefit:

That there is no bid’ah hasanah (good innovation)!!!

“Whoever introduced a Sunnah hasanah (good practice) in Islam….. And whoever introduced a Sunnah sayyi’ah (evil practice) in Islam…”

Sunnah Hasanah ya’nī he revived it after it was dead.

As it comes,

“And he gave charity”

And Sadaqah is well-known in the past and present, so the speech of the Prophet ﷺ was that he came with something that had already become apparent amongst the people before so he gave charity and the people followed him in it as in the Hadith of Jarīr bin Abdillāh may Allāh be pleased with him, he said:

مَنْ سَنَّ فِي الْإِسْلَامِ سُنَّةً حَسَنَة

“Whoever introduced a Sunnah hasanah in Islam”…the Hadith.

As for innovations then there is no bid’ah hasanah, because it is in opposition to the speech of the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ.

These statements!!! The Prophet ﷺ saying:

“Every innovation is misguidance.”

And you are saying from it is good!!!

Due to this the correct statement concerning this issue is that there is no bid’ah hasanah, and that all of it is innovation and misguidance, and that which is called good is righteous actions, as for evil actions, it is not said it is good, opposing the guidance of the Prophet ﷺ even if the people use there own discretion then verily it is from the misguidances.

Those who were not brought up on the likes of these books, Kitāb Us-Sunnah, at the hands of the sincere scholars who teach and explain it to the people will fall from their path, from them are those who love the khair and the dīn, but their minds and thoughts and capability have been snatched to harmful ideologies that harm themselves and the Muslims, so they fall into deviances, the likes of these legislated oppositions to the Book and the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ, and they become people of fitan (commotion/disturbance), whether they know it or not, as it is known in the arena of the seventy two sects.
