The Name of the Shaitaan that Comes Between You and Your Salaat

Benefit:

Uthman b. Abu al-‘As reported that he came to Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) and said: Allah’s Messenger, the Shaitaan intervenes between me and my prayer and my reciting of the Qur’an and he confounds me. Thereupon Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) said, “That is (the doing of a) Shaitaan annoys (devil) who is known as Khinzab, and when you perceive its effect, seek refuge with Allah from it and spit three times to your left. I did that and Allah dispelled that from me.”
[Sahih Muslim Hadith No. 2203]

So the shaykh explained that the name of this devil is Khinzab, but there are a few different ways to pronounce it:

First: Khinzib: with a kasrah ( ِ ) on the khaa (خ) and kasrah on the zaay (ز).

Second: Khanzab: with a fathah ( َ ) on the khaa (خ) and a fathah on the zaay (ز).

Third: Khinzab: with a kasrah ( ِ ) on the khaa (خ) and a fathah ( َ ) on the zaay (ز).

Fourth: Khunzab:with a dumah ( ُ ) on the khaa (خ) and a fathah ( َ ) on the zaay (ز).

Ibn Atheer in his book, “Al Nihiyah”, related this pronounciation (the fourth one) but it is strange and unheard of.
So from this hadith it shows that seeking refuge in Allah from Shaitaan when he whispers in one’s prayer (salaat) is recommended and to spit (dry spit) three times on one’s left side.

And the meaning of “confounds me” is: the Shaitaan comes into the salaat and confuses him and causes him to doubt.
And the meaning of “intervenes between me and my prayer” is: the Shaitaan annoys him and prevents him from tasting the sweetness of the salaat with full submission and concentration.
