Question:
What is the ruling on working in the beauty products department and selling such things as contact lenses, dresses and other than that from the things which you mentioned (from beauty products which) are impermissible?
Answer:
It is not permissible because it is from helping upon sin and transgression and Allah says
وَتَعَاوَنُوا۟ عَلَى ٱلۡبِرِّ وَٱلتَّقۡوَىٰۖ وَلَا تَعَاوَنُوا۟ عَلَى ٱلۡإِثۡمِ وَٱلۡعُدۡوانِۚ
“Help you one another in Al-Birr and At-Taqwa (virtue, righteousness and piety); but do not help one another in sin and transgression.” [Surat Al-Ma’idah:2]
This is also from the spreading of corruption between the people and Allah knows best.
Also (related to impermissible products) the wearing of trousers. For verily, they are not permissible for men or women. And as women wearing them is even more repulsive, as As-Sheikh Al-Uthaymeen mentioned in “liqaāt Al-bab Al-Maftooh”. I am amazed, after hearing the fatwa from the scholars that it is impermissible, these women still wear it. If the women don’t take the opinion of the scholars and their guardians then whose opinion will they take? By Allah this is outrageous that the opinion of the scholars is left off and the opinion of the ignorant is taken.
