It has no basis, verily perhaps some of them used to pass by the common people and say Pray! For verily the prayer is better than work or the likes of this, from the angle of advice, so these ones took it and entered it into the Athān, so if a person were to pass by people who are working and said: “Pray! O you people, prayer is better for you than work”, this is an admonishment ‘better than work’, i.e. prayer is worship, and it’s better for you than to waste the religion of Allah, and what does work benefit you without prayer?!.”
