Question:
Whoever has doubt in his heart or something like that, does he say: “O Allah if this is the truth from you then grant me firmness upon it?”
Answer:
There is no doubt that the religion of Allah which is Islam is the truth, you don’t say for example O Allah if the religion of Islam is the truth from you then grant me firmness upon it.
Rather you say:
يا مقلب القلوب ثبت قلبي على دينك
“O the One who changes the hearts make my heart firm upon the truth.”
There shouldn’t remain with anyone doubt that if this religion is true then may Allah make him firm upon it, don’t make this condition, rather ask Allah for firmness, this is the true religion of Allah
(فَمَاذَا بَعْدَ ٱلْحَقِّ إِلَّا ٱلضَّلَٰلُۖ فَأَنَّىٰ تُصْرَفُون)َ
“So after the truth, what else can there be, save error? How then are you turned away?” [Yunus, 32]
For this reason it was from the du’aas of the Prophet ﷺ;
يا مقلب القلوب ثبت قلبي على دينك
“O the One who changes the hearts make my heart firm upon the truth.”
يا مصرف القلوب صرف قلبي على طاعتك
“O directer of the hearts direct my heart to your obedience.”
The Prophet ﷺ never used to say if your religion the religion of Islam is the truth then make me firm upon it. It’s not allowed to doubt that the religion of Islam is the truth, it’s not allowed for you to allow the Shaytaan to enter into you doubt about the religion of Allah that it is the truth or not the truth, this is dangerous.
(إِنَّ ٱلدِّينَ عِندَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلْإِسْلَٰمُۗ)
“Truly, the religion with Allah is Islam.” [Aal-Imraan, 19]
(وَمَن يَبْتَغِ غَيْرَ ٱلْإِسْلَٰمِ دِينًا فَلَن يُقْبَلَ مِنْهُ وَهُوَ فِى ٱلْءَاخِرَةِ مِنَ ٱلْخَٰسِرِين)َ
“And whoever seeks a religion other than Islam, it will never be accepted of him, and in the Hereafter he will be one of the losers.” [Aal-Imraan, 85]
(أَفَغَيْرَ دِينِ ٱللَّهِ يَبْغُونَ وَلَهُۥٓ أَسْلَمَ مَن فِى ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ طَوْعًا وَكَرْهًا وَإِلَيْهِ يُرْجَعُون)َ
“Do they seek other than the religion of Allah (the true Islamic Monotheism worshipping none but Allah Alone), while to Him submitted all creatures in the heavens and the earth, willingly or unwillingly. And to Him shall they all be returned.” [Aal-Imraan, 83]
(فَلَا تَكُ فِى مِرْيَةٍ مِّنْهُۚ إِنَّهُ ٱلْحَقُّ مِن رَّبِّكَ وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَ ٱلنَّاسِ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ)
“So be not in doubt about it. Verily, it is the truth from your Lord.” [Hud, 17]
And many proofs. So this du’aa is not allowed, because it is stemming from doubt and dissatisfaction.
(ثُمَّ جَعَلْنَٰكَ عَلَىٰ شَرِيعَةٍ مِّنَ ٱلْأَمْرِ فَٱتَّبِعْهَا وَلَا تَتَّبِعْ أَهْوَآءَ ٱلَّذِينَ لَا يَعْلَمُون)َ
“Then We have put you on a plain way of (Our) commandment. So follow you that, and follow not the desires of those who know not.” [Al-Jaashiyyah, 18]
(فَٱسْتَقِمْ كَمَآ أُمِرْتَ وَمَن تَابَ مَعَكَ)
“So stand you firm and straight as you are commanded and those (your companions) who turn in repentance (unto Allah) with you.” [Hud, 112]
(فَٱسْتَقِيمُوٓا۟ إِلَيْهِ وَٱسْتَغْفِرُوهُۗ وَوَيْلٌ لِّلْمُشْرِكِينَ)
“Therefore take Straight Path to Him, and seek forgiveness of Him. And woe to Al-Mushrikeen.” [Al-Fussilat, 6]
بعثت بحنيفية السمحة
“I was sent with the easy Haneef (religion).”
Read the Book ‘The virtue of Islaam’ by Shaykh Muhammad bin Abdil-Wahhaab An-Najdi may Allaah have mercy on him, for it is a good book on the virtues of Islam, and it speaks on it’s easiness, and it’s a good book.
