Question:
Some women work in the sewing and tailor sector and in their countries there is a shortage of women and they began wearing trousers which are short and defining, so she makes it a condition upon them to do this tailoring free of charge without taking any profit for it to be somewhat baggy, is this considered lessening the evil or does this work enter into cooperating upon sin and transgression?
Answer:
It’s not allowed for this woman to tailor make trousers for women, and it’s not allowed for a man to tailor make trousers for men, not for the women nor for the men, these are the clothes of the west, it’s not the clothes of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, nor his companions, nor the taabi’een, nor the clothes of those after them except up until a short while ago many people began to work on construction and considered this and there came those who expanded this for them.
Not for the soldiers or for other than them, all of that is a mistake them wearing trousers, a mistake.
There’s a book we have in the library, ya’nee it’s as if its companion is a lawyer for wearing trousers, ‘Rajeej Al-Kawn min Libs Al-Bantaloon’, so I bought the book thinking that he was drumming with me, ‘Rajeej Al-Kawn’ that he was going to come with some statements of the scholars on the warning from wearing trousers and low and behold he is refuting those who are crying about wearing trousers, ‘Rajeej Al-Kawn’.
And it was a trivial refutation, a refutation of one who doesn’t have proof, by Allah we love those that aid us in establishing the religion of Allah, a writer or non writer, upon us or upon other than us, how good is what Ibnul-Wazeer said:
***Yaa saahibayya fis-Sabaabah wal hawaa
Maa minkumaa fi hubi Ahmad mus’idi***
Don’t become inspired in awe at the multitude of people wearing trousers, I mean because of the multitude of people wearing trousers you say everybody is wearing trousers so then it’s halaal.
The majority is not a weighing scale for permissibility or impermissibility, the weighing scale for permissibility and impermissibility is the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of His Messenger.
People now and the banks have filled the dunyaa, what’s your view on these interest based banks, halaal or haraam? Huh! Haraam. We don’t become inspired in awe at falsehood due to its abundance.
Even if there’s found one who gives a fatwa (permitting it), even if he were to be from the scholars of the Muslims and there occurred from that he said something the likes of that, the truth has more right to be followed, and the mistake of a scholar is to be avoided, a righteous scholar, his mistake is avoided and his position is preserved, this mistake of his is warned from and his position is preserved that he fell into a mistake, a righteous man a righteous scholar but he made a mistake in this, as for a person of falsehood we gather this along with the rest of his falsehood and we clarify it.
