Question:
Is sugar sufficient to be given as Zakaat-ul-Fitr?
Answer:
Zakaat-ul-Fitr is to be from the most common food sustenance of a country, and sugar is not a food sustenance, for verily a poor person could remain hungry with the presence of sugar with him, so it is not correct to be (given) as Zakaat-ul-Fitr but rather it is from the complementary goods, and success is with Allaah.
