??Question:
O Shaykh, how is it said that Salafiyah is the true religion of Allah, whilst Allah has said this (only) about Islām?
Likewise when a person dies and their questioned in their grave; (what is your religion), will a person say Salafiyah or Islām?
I hope you can clarify what is correct in this topic.

??Answer:
When it was the case the Shī’a claim Islām, and the Khawārij claim it, similarly the Mu’tazilah and the Sufiyyah, and other than them from the misguided sects who claim it; likewise the Muslim Brotherhood in this era claim it;
It became a must that the saved sect, the aided group, Ahlussunnah wal Jamā’ah, who carry the correct Islām in what relates to its name and methodology is made distinct from the other sects.
Shaykh-Ul-Islām, Ibn Taymiyyah, may Allah have mercy upon him, said:
“There is no blame upon he who manifests the Madhab of the Salaf, and attributes himself to it, and traces himself back to it.
Rather it is a must to accept this from him by consensus; because the Madhab of the Salaf is nothing but the truth.”
