Benefit:
From the blameworthiness of blind-following and partisanship, Allah said:
(إِنَّا وَجَدْنَآ ءَابَآءَنَا عَلَىٰٓ أُمَّةٍ وَإِنَّا عَلَىٰٓ ءَاثَٰرِهِم مُّهْتَدُونَ)
“Nay! They say: “We found our fathers following a certain way and religion, and we guide ourselves by their footsteps.” [Az-Zukhruf: 22]
And many of the people were ruined because of this partisanship and refused the religion of Allah, Abu Taalib while the Prophet ﷺ was with him.
قل لا إله إلا الله كلمة أحاج لك بها عند الله
“Say Laa ilaaha illa Allaah, a word i can argue for on your behalf in front of Allaah.”
And Abu Jahl bin Hishaam was with him, and Abdullaah bin Umayyah, both saying:
أترغب عن ملة عبد المطلب؟
“Are you rejecting the religion of Abdil-Muttalib?”
And they didn’t cease doing that every time the Prophet ﷺ repeated to him they responded with this statement, his last words were upon partisanship, he is upon the religion of Abdil-Muttalib, and he refused to say Laa ilaaha illa Allaah, and this was at death, his nephew is instructing him to say it and he is convinced that he is truthful, and partisanship stood with him and repelled it from him, he used to protect him and get angry for his sake, and with that partisanship made him stern upon kufr until he died.
So this is a dangerous sickness, the sickness of partisanship, the sickness of blind-following.
