Question :
A brother refuses to go to a free mixing school. His mother curses him for this. What’s the advise for the brother?
Answer :
Our advise for him is to be firm. Free mixing of men and women is prohibited as per the saying of Allah “if you ask them (the women) anything, ask from behind a curtain. That is better for the purity of your hearts and their hearts.” And our advise for his mother is that she should fear Allah. Its not permitted for her to force her son to study in a school where there is free mixing.
He may deviate, his heart may turn away because of mixing with the women. Prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam says, “I have not left any fitnah after which is more disastrous upon the men than the fitnah of women”. And there is the fatwa of Shaykh Abdul azeez ibn baz and Shaykh Yahya Al hajoori prohibiting the studies in mixed universities and schools.
