Benefit:
“Ibn Sireen, may Allah have mercy upon him:
إن هذا العلم دين فانظروا أمن تأخذنون دينكم
“Indeed this knowledge is religion so look at he who you take your religion from”.
And whoever broke away from that, then it’s because of his sitting with those ones (deviants) and his pleasure in what they say and do.
This is an important matter. Don’t look to take any speech, take the correct opinion and look also at the person (of this opinion). Are you strengthening him?, are you making him popular?, are you praising him and mentioning him?, are you narrating from him?.
For indeed your narrating from him O caller to Allah is not a light matter. It’s an expression of a biography, this person took knowledge from so and so.
For indeed you find in the biographies that they say this man Bukhaari narrated from him, this man’s opinion was strengthened by or transmitted by Shaykh ul-Islaam and like so. Whoever doesn’t have specific speech concerning him perhaps there will be good thoughts of him if his affair wasn’t made clear.”
